Understanding Each Other Part 2
Build a "Love Map"
In relationship psychology, a "Love Map" is the part of your brain where you store all the relevant information about your partner's life.
• The Big Things: What are their current biggest stresses? What are their long-term life goals or "bucket list" items?
• The Small Things: Who is currently bothering them at work? What is their preferred way to decompress after a long day?
• The Update: Once a week, ask a "Map-Building" question that has nothing to do with chores or kids. Example: "What's one thing you’re looking forward to in the next month?"
3. The Power of Validation (Without Agreement)
One of the biggest hurdles to understanding is the fear that if you validate your partner's perspective, you are admitting you were "wrong."
